Chicagoland Modified Bitumen Roofing Professionals
A Torch Down roof is commonly referred to as “rubberoid”. All torch down roofing is made from modified bitumen, or bitumen with additives. Bitumen is made from asphalt, a tough material that is used in many roofing situations. When the torch is made at the plant the bitumen is mixed with a reinforced polymer.
In this installation sheets of modified bitumen are rolled out onto the roof, and a roofing professional uses a propane torch to heat the material and adhere it to the surface. Once the underside of torch reaches the correct temperature, seams are melted together to create a waterproof seal to keep your home or business protected from the elements.
