For Hand Splits, the manufacturer makes them from a log and splits it into 2 equal parts thick at one side and taper down to nothing at the other. Hand Splits have the split face exposed with a naturally rustic appearance and come in random widths. Perfections are cut by a machine and are all uniform, unlike the Hand Splits that come in random width sizes. Perfections are cut on a saw and are all uniform.
